Choices And Habits

We Are What We Repeatedly Do

The above quote is commonly attributed to Aristotle. It underscores the importance of our choices and habits.

If we follow Aristotle’s advice and don’t repeat the same choices we made last year, things should improve this year. Or are we still making the same choices and habits as last year and the year before?

We conducted a site assessment for a major discount store chain. Our assessment showed that implementing our SO360 solution would holistically automate their processes and increase site efficiency by nearly 40%, with a payback of less than six months.

A few weeks ago, we learned that their automation project had led to a 30% increase in throughput costs and a decline in delivery performance. What is really surprising is that, after making a flashy PowerPoint decision that caused chaos, they repeated the same mistake.

Using flashy PowerPoint slides with fireworks to showcase high-visibility AI trends and cool automation technology as assessment and final selection criteria is a poor choice…and a bad habit. It appears Aristotle’s advice remains valid in 2026.

Think outside the box, look around the corner, make good choices, and, whatever you do, don’t fall back into your old habits.

All the best of success in 2026
